Hi All! New to the site today, but already in love with the patterns I've seen. I can't wait to try some of them! My name is Janie, and I am from Northern California (no beach here). I am a recently full-time mom (by choice) of two great kids, have been crocheting since I was my daughter's age, and finally last week finished an afghan(more of a bedspread) I started 11 winters ago. I'll explain that later. Love this site! Hope to make wonderful new friends here.

mad for crochet!

Welcome Janie,

I grew up in Northern Sonoma County out on the coast near Fort Ross. Beautiful beaches, just that the water is freezing and really dangerous! Where are you? My sister lives in Santa Rosa. I am way out here in Massachusetts now, but I love going back to Cali for visits.

50 miles north of Sacramento, Colusa County. I bet it's beautiful in MA, even after all the notorious leaves have fallen. Someday soon we hope to tour the US during our summers, and Massachusetts is a place high on my list. Nice to meet you Sarah, hope to talk again soon.

I crochet pretty fast, so it shouldn't have taken that long. It's a joke among my family. I worked on it in the winter because it was so big, heavy, and HOT!!!! We've only been able to keep it on our bed for two full nights, when it was super cold here, because we get too warm and kick it off on the floor!

I have done some other things as well, baby blankets and a twin sized one my niece confiscated when she was two. Hats seem to be my problem. Wish I had taken pictures of them all.

Thanks for all the great welcomes!

Welcome. It is nice to have another No. Cali girl (even if you are not by the water). I hope to see lots of your work soon.

I just read about aa double ended crocket hook. Anyone here of it? never saw one. There's book on making afghans this way. Suppose to be easier faster etc. Anyone start with any books they can recommend? Twice today I almost ordered but then backed out. I was looking at Mile a Minute Afghans and Afghans on the double. I want a book with good pictures of the steps because I will never get into the directions, can't stand to see them! Ha! just gave mom her blanket, I laid it out on my table and it's bigger than my dinning room table. I should have made it wider and its way to long. Guess there is something good about counting huh? I'll measure. Any advise on a good beginners book with good pic's greatly appreciated?thanks
