Hello, all,
I'm a crocheter who has been working on, yes, afghans, and acrylic at that. It's for charity, so the easy care is desired and demanded. :)
The secrets for me to actually finish an afghan is 1) crochet with 2) a fairly large hook (worsted weight yarn & size H/5.0mm) a 3) small project, like a baby blanket.
As it is the 25 anniversary of my mom's parish, we're trying to make lots of baby blankets of 25 squares each to donate, on top of the usual 20 afghans that arrive every month.
They take a lot of sewing together. @_@
I'll end here--have to finish a 5"x20" block, and then time to crochet an edging around the first crocheted 25-square baby blanket. :)

mad for crochet!Hi Ann in CT. Sounds like you are a busy stitcher! Do you ever make anything for yourself?
mad for crochet!
Welcome! I hate sewing pieces together but I end up having to. Oh and do you make anything for yourself? You really should... I love the items I have made myself.
I make for myself . . . . Plans. @_@
But I got some Rowan Denim in the darkest color, and hope to figure out a sweater inspired by a Jacobean jacket (the one in Waugh's The Cut of Women's Clothes).
I think I'll have to start with a bigger swatch and B. Walker's Knitting from the Top and work it out in obsessive detail.
But afghans have been keeping me busy and creative. Hopefully I'll make up a few patterns that can be posted here. :)
