Hello Everyone! I am new here. I know some crochet basics, as my mother-in-law does just about every craft known to man and I have picked up on some things from her. In fact, recently, I was sitting on her living room floor watching "Grease" singing every word to the ending song while crocheting...! HA! She laughed so hard! Anyway, I am here for several reasons, one being, maybe I can learn some more, because I love it- and my 9 yr old wants to learn- PLUS...

I am the President of a new non-profit organization called "Jenny Ru's Ray of Light Foundation" that was established last July, 7 months after my husband and I suffered the devastating loss of our little girl just halfway through my pregnancy. I became horribly ill, and was forced to deliver her, lest I would die. Anyway, due to the lack of services available to us because of our location over the location of the hospital we decided that was unacceptable, so we started this organization to help others who were in the same situation. Most hospitals, while they have SOME services, are generally ill equipped to handle the loss of an infant and many families are left without the needed support in the weeks and months following the loss.

Anyway, what brings me here is this: my husband's cousin had an idea. She thought of the idea to design a pattern for a layette set (sweater, hat & booties)- for preemies- that is a completely original design. We would ask the designer to copyright the design with us, allow us to market the design and sell it. Those who purchase the design would then make the set and send it back to the Foundation completed and we would in turn donate the set to an area hospital that has a NICU. They also have a need for blankets for these tiny babies. What would have to be worked out is, whether the designer would want compensation (as in a percentage of the total sales) for their time, or if that person would be willing to donate the design outright. If you know how to design patterns and are interested in getting involved with this cause, please let me know.

You will not find us on any non-profit search lists because we are not claiming 501(c)3 status as of yet. We are working towards obtaining the funds necessary to file all the necessary documents, but we have obtained an EIN# with the IRS. If you need that info to check our legitimacy, I would be willing to share that info with you privately.

Please feel free to check out our website (www.freewebs.com/ray-of-light). We are also on Myspace (www.myspace.com/jenny_ru) and Facebook- under "Causes".

Thank you very much for your time.
