My name is Dee and I LOVE crochet. I taught myself about 8 years ago and I am rarely seen without my yarn and hook in hand. I design simple things right now, like small shoulder bags as I decided I didn't want big purses anymore. I wanted something to put my wallet, my cell phone, and my keys in, period. These bags have developed into still small bags for school items, such as pencil, pen, calculator and such.

As far as other designing, I love to take an established pattern and put my own twist on it. I change yarns, colors, some stitch patterns and use embelishments to make the items more personal.

I can not wait to start posting some of these designs.

Hope to make some friends here.

Hello Dee,

I taught myself a couple of years ago and hasn't turned back!

I still underestimate how good I am but get terribly frustrated when the pattern doesn't work out. I am in the middle of a breakdown with a soaker that wont lay flat!!!!

I look forward to seeing some of your designs.

I know what you mean about getting frustrated. My problem always stems from proper number of stitches. No matter how closely I follow a pattern or count stitches as I go, I seem to get off count somewhere in the design which usually means unraveling.

My daughter lives at Hill AFB so you are pretty close. Are you just loving this weather? One day sunshine, the next...hailstorms!

What exactly is a soaker and what stitch pattern are you using? Maybe I can help.
