About time to say hello!

My name is Beate, and I live in Frankfurt upon Main. I got really "hooked" about three years ago having discovered a few thin books about Irish crochet on my trip to Ireland.

Searching the net I also found Freeform crochet; both Irish and Freeform crochet seem completely unknown over here judging from the publications available.

I'm still busy "stash busting" as I haven't knitted for a while (and took quite long to finish something!), so I haven't started anything in Irish crochet, yet.

Did anyone do a project in Irish crochet?

Greetings - Beate

mad for crochet!

Hi Beate, I think it is cool that you are interested in Irish crochet. It is a fabulous art and I have seen some really amazing pieces done in that style. One pattern here on this site is inspired by the technique http://crochetme.com/irish-oranges. I did a freeform panel and I am working on a top http://crochetme.com/forum/almost-done using the idea of connecting motifs with mesh. I haven't tried any with thread, but it is on my list! I would love to see what you are doing.- Sarah
