Hi Everyone! I've been poking around the site for a couple weeks now and trying my best to get through some post reading. I thought that it might be wise to introduce myself before starting to post to threads :) So here I am....

My name is Kcrystina (pronounced "Christina"), am in my mid 30's and have one son who is starting kindergarten this coming fall. I own my own mixed media jewelry business, www.kcrystina.com, and have been designing jewelry for a couple years now. However, as of this past winter (2008-09) I got the crochet bug and have been crocheting ever since. I LOVE it! *laugh* My Mom and Grandmother had tried to teach me how to knit many many moons ago but I never took it up. Found it just too complicated. This past winter I just got this urge to want to learn how to knit and crochet - teaching myself. I taught myself the basics of both and have fallen hard for crochet. Definitely my choice out of the two. I love that you only need a hook & yarn to do anything, and how portable it is too. I've been taking a project with me everywhere I go. If I don't have one on me I feel very lost. *laugh*

Right now I've got 6 projects on the go - jeeze I didn't realize I had that many on the go! lol - three bags, a crochet hook & supply case, a crochet beaded necklace and an afghan. Am almost done two of the bags and the crochet hook case, hoping to get the first bag done soon so I can use it myself :) I'm following patterns for all, which for me is something I find very hard to do. Not because I feel that the patterns are hard but just following them in general. I feel constrained & feel the need to burst out of the pattern. But I'm sticking to it so I can learn how stitches go together to make things before I branch out on my own. *smiles*

My favorite yarn to date would have to be bamboo & bamboo silk. I came across a site or something in some magazine that has veggie based threads and yarns. I want to get my hands on some of that! Sounds pretty interesting. Has anyone worked with that yet?

Well I guess that's my intro... of sorts! *laugh* I look forward to getting to know everyone here & learning lots!

Regards,
