Help! Faced with a depleted stash, my local yarn provision is not great - plus I'm finding a lot of online stores are based in the US so I get whacked for shipping (cash is pretty low at the moment) - does anyone have any UK recommendations for good/value suppliers? Otherwise I'm going to have unwravel my projects and start again!

Have you tried looking through eBay UK?

Angels and Elephants are great.

I have to admit to collecting wool from friends and relatives, having a rummage through the wool box in charity shops and finding all the local wool shops within a 25 mile radius!!!

Thankyou! I'll have a look... Was scared off initially by ebay (could only find huge job-lots of strange coloured wool when I looked), but might try again. Recently discovered http://www.newlanarkshop.co.uk/ - great prices for credit-crunch knitting, just waiting for my new purchases to arrive.

Have to admit to a lot of charity shop rummaging too, although annoying how often the balls of wool seem to have lost their labels en-route - makes for a lot of experimenting!

Oooo I like the New Lanark site.

I always go for pure wool from the charity shops, if I am not sure if it is I do the yarn break test...

As a result I have managed to get quite alot of odd balls, what exactly I am going to do with these is another thing! I really want to start felting, but I haven't got round to actually having a go. I also really want to make flower brooches for my friends for Christmas. However, I have enough wool to make a whole army of them!!!!
