Neck warmer

I used a 5mm hook. My sock yarn is 3-ply fingering weight "Soft Touch Wool", hand painted from Shelridge Farm (http://www.shelridge.com). 175 yards/50g. Recommended needle size: 3mm.

My sister, niece and nephew all want one for Christmas--although they've asked that theirs be half as tall. It's perfect when it's pulled up around the face, but when it's around the neck only it is a bit too bulky.

I really like the idea, and those colors look great on you. Maybe I should try that for my kids, they don't ever want to wear their scarves.

EmmaJane...I have been thinking of doing something like this and wondering if sock yarn would work! Now I know! A friend of mine at work had neck surgery last year and has been asking for something like this! Thanks for posting the picture and idea! Have you put your pattern in the pattern section yet? I made something similar using bulky baby alpaca and a seed stitch. I made it long enough to be a hood, but the airiness of the alpaca and the lightness provided by the seed stitch made it not too bulky when down.

Have I mentioned how much I love the seed stitch? I use it for drape when otherwise I think things would be too bulky. Also, it's so so so hypnotic.

Hardcore? Hardcore is for babies. I'm HOOKCORE!
