Both Aangs are very cute and well made. But what is "Fire Nation" or an air bender? I feel so out of it. :(

Well, no matter how old I get I'm a cartoon freak. This is a character from Nickelodeon's cartoon series titled "Avatar: The Last Airbender", which is probably the best cartoon they've ever aired. It actually has a plot! It aired for three seasons and ended this past weekend. Do a search online, you'll find plenty of sites.

Did you make this freehand or use a pattern? I'm watching this boy that is in LOVE with avatar and was thinking maybe I could make something like this, but I know I am not good enough to make this on my own yet.

Well I got the body and extremities pattern from the crochet buddy pattern in this site. The rest of him I made up. I never wrote down the pattern, unfortunately, and if I ever tried crocheting him again I imagine the result would be very different.
