So, I made it twice as long as called for, and I can drape it or fold it over and wear it as a cosie with layers of lace. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out--too bad it's already ear-marked as a gift...
Very nice ,I could not get the lace to work for me.
Shall try again .
Started my own project a sweater rib 4inches then crochet the body.
Shall post photo as I get further.

I like the idea of the longer scarf. Very pretty.
Could someone direct me to the pattern for this? I love it and it would make a fantastic gift for my Sister-in-Law.
Thanks much!
