I wanted to make a little something special for my friend who was pregnant and who has a toddler (Fiona) that's friends with my toddler. So I decided to make an "acorn" hat for Fiona. I realised I didn't have a good shade of brown for it, so I started it in white, to realise that it was looking very much like an ice cream cone. I thought: "Perfect! Fiona loves ice cream!" So I added cherries. (But do cherries ever have leaves like this???)

Then, for the new baby, I thought I would pick something from the same book (sorry, can't remember the name just now... will find out and post title later) and made an eggplant newborn hat with mitts. I (again!) didn't have a rich, deep eggplant color yarn to make it so it ended up being kind of a sun-bleached eggplant, but whatever, cause I like to think Sofie-Anna (now born!) looks adorable in it anyway (they now live far away, boo-hoo)! I made them both of super soft cotton... and now I wonder where's MY ice cream hat!

Super cute! You need a strawberry ice cream hat with whipped cream (some kind of fluff) on top!

OMG! They are so cute.

The eggplant reminds me of the Flower Fairies books I got my granddaughter when I was in England.

Ignore me. I'm just the crazy cat lady.

Really nice eggplants! I have seen eggplants just that lavender color. And I have to agree with the crazy cat lady that little Sofie-Anna will look like an adorable little eggplant fairy in her hat and booties!

I do love your ice cream hat too. Soft serve!
