While sorting through my mother's crochet hooks I found a very long hook and asked her what it was? She had forgotten all about this style of crocheting but with some practice figured out the afghan stitch and taught me. I love this stitch! It looked like tiny squares that I could cross stitch into. And that gave me the idea ti incorporate both for the baby blanket. Mom (who is 84) sewed the flannel backing and satin edges to the blanket to finish it off. It is for our first grand daughter and will be a wonderful heirloom, created by two generations of crafters!

So cute! I inherited some afghan hooks from my husband's grandmother, but I haven't learned the stitch yet. You all did a beautiful job on your blanket!
