I have been working on a hat with fingering weight wool/alpaca using slipstich front loop only in the round. I love the light but solid smooth fabric it is making and mmm lovely drape! I like that it is crochet! I don’t want to say it looks like knitting! It isn’t!!! Although, I have to admit the back sure looks kind of garterstitchy!!

I am using some of my most recent dyes

 reddish - eucalyptus

orangey amber- tree lichen

light yellow- white pine needles

Slipstich front loop only in the round - I'll have to swatch that up. I've never tried it.

Nice colors, too.

Hey Pauline, try using a larger hook than you would normally use and keep your tension loose.

This is so pretty Smootha!! Ok, now you've done it girl. I have to get out my hooks & get busy working on that hat I've been promising myself. *winking* Will let you know how I do. I love to work in one loop only. It gives the crochet a completely different look. Happy stitching!!!

Wow, I am always amazed by talented people. I don't have many bright ideas that don't come from a pattern! This is beautiful!

Thanks jtrailblazer. I found that as soon as I realized that it is MY crochet and I make the rules, it opened up a whole new fun world to explore.
