Reminds me a bit of colorful Irish crochet. Commercial dye?

I was inspired by Myra Wood's book Creative Crochet Lace. I am using up scraps of commercially dyed yarn. I have arranged them by color and I am thinking of doing a few more panels. Who knows what it will be, but I sure am having fun!!

I love how you're shading the blues. Look forward to seeing this one finished.

I really admire this project of yours. Free-form seems so intimidating to me. It looks lovely so far, and I'm so excited to see how it turns out.

First that IS beautiful. Second what constitutes"free-form"?

What fun!

I like the colors and how the design is playing out so far.

Freeform is what it sounds like, no pattern, no rules, make it up as you go along. There are some guidelines and tips that help. You have to check out www.knotjustknitting.com - Prudence Mapstone is really good at it. I got the idea of making lacey freeform from Myra Wood www.myrawood.com

ok, cool. That's kind of what I thought. I guess my husband is right - I just don't know what to call what I do. (that would mean that my Granny Shawl is freeform. I used no pattern at all for it. Just started crocheting.) Thanks for being willing to explain the simplest things. :o)

Hi Sarah!!!!

I was admiring this piece for a while but didn't have anything to contribute to this conversation until I picked up the Myra Woods book from my local library. What a fun book!!! I've been reading it as well as experimenting with her exercises. I'm having a ball!!!

Anyway...how is this project coming along & what has it become?! I'm so excited for you.
