I started this in April and finished the stitching in June. I just finished weaving in the rest of those pesky ends. Yay!! It is blocking and drying right now. The yarn is 50/50 wool/alpaca in fingering weight. I dyed it with black beans for the blue, bayberry leaves for the yellow . I overdyed some of the yellow with the blue for the green and blue/green variegated. Fun!
mad for crochet!
It turned out gorgeous!!
Beautiful! Those colors are fabulous. How well do your dyes hold up to washing?
Thanks! I can't wait until it dries and I can take another picture of it all blocked out.
Yeah! I am really excited about how well these dyes came out. With gentle handwashing all is well so far. They may fade a little in strong sunlight over time, though. I used alum as a mordant to help with fastness.
When I'm riding I'm right...
That is beautiful. Gorgeous colors! I never knew black beans would give that color.... must add to the list of things to try in my lifetime.

She comes up with some really cool stuff for dying! doesn't she!!
I'm really impressed with your dying and crocheting abilities. Beautiful colors and design. I like the flower and leaf motifs.

This is lovely. Did you make up the motifs as you went along, or were they patterns from somewhere?
Hey thanks, Joy. I did just wing the motifs. I know I got the basic idea for the leaves somewhere- maybe mypicot.com.
cheers! Sarah
That is a very nice capelet how would you block it as I have not had to block any type of crochet I do.
I love the colors! Your work is just beautiful.
