Hi, I am a beginner and I am trying to learn how to crochet snowflakes and flowers.  I just can't seem to get how to crochet this pattern

ch 6, join to form a ring, ch 3, 23 dc in ring, join in 3rd ch of beg ch-3 (24)

I understand how to chain 6 and join and ch 3, I have watched videos and seen how the stitches are stitched in ring but when I try and do it something just isn't right.

Any help would be greatly appreciated and if you are left handing that would be wonderful.

1.  Do you know how to make a dc?  If so, do the following:

wrap yarn around hook, go into the circle and wrap yarn around hook and pull hook through the circle. Yarn over hook and draw yarn throuh two loops on your hook. Yarn over and draw yarn through 2 remaining hooks on hook.  You have now made one dc in the ring.

Continue doing this until you have made 23 dc in the ring.  Then you will slip stitch in the 3rd chain (top of the chain 3) at the beginning of your dc's in the ring.  Write back if you need more help

Happy Hooking

I have all the stitches down and I think I finally have the "in the round" part of it but I am still confused by the "slip stitch in the 3rd chain"  you would count the stitches on the top of the round and slip stitch in the 3rd one?

Thank you Arizona for replying to my first post.  I finally found a video and I see what I have been doing wrong.  I will continue to practice and hopefully I will eventually make a flower.  The patterns are still a little difficult for me to figure out but I am sure with time I will understand them better.  Again, thanks for your help.
