I'm working on a crocheted shawl and admittedly I am only a few rows into it, but it just doesn't look right. It's worked lengthwise and starts with a chain of 159 stitches.
Row 1: Dc3tog working over 4th ch from hook and next 2 ch, ch 1 , [tr in next ch, ch1] twice, (tr, ch, tr) in next ch, [ch 1, tr in next ch] twice, ch 1, *dc7tog over next 7 ch, ch 1, [tr in next ch, ch 1] twice, (tr, ch 1, tr_ in next ch, [ch 1, tr in next ch] twice, ch 1; repeat from * to last 4 ch, dc4tog over last 4 ch, turn - 13 pattern repeats
Row 2: Ch 3, dc in next ch-1 sp, [dc in next tr, dc in next ch-1 sp] 5 times, dc in next tr, *dc2tog over next 2 ch-1 sps (skipping the dc7tog in between), [dc in next tr, dc in next ch-1 sp] 5 times, dc in next tr; repeat from * across to last ch-1 sp, dc2tog over last ch-1 sp and last dc3tog, turn
Row 3: Ch 3, sk first dc2tog, dc3tog over next 3 dc, ch 1, [tr in next dc, ch 1] twice, (tr, ch, tr) in next dc, [ch 1, tr in next dc] twice, ch 1; repeat from * to last 4 dc, dc4tog over last 4 dc, turn.
I've gotten through Row 3 but nothing seems to be lining up, it's supposed to make a nice wave pattern, but the dips aren't lining up to one another. The first part of it lines up well, but then about halfway through the row it starts to flatten out oddly, because the dc7tog don't line up with one another. Could I have done something wrong? Or is that how the pattern is supposed to be and it will work itself out after a few more rows?
Sorry, didn't finish typing out instructions for Row 3. Don't know if they matter but in case here they are.
Row 3: Ch 3, sk first dc2tog, dc3tog over next 3dc, ch 1, [tr in next dc, ch 1] twice, (tr, ch 1, tr) in next dc, [ch 1, tr in next dc] twice, ch 1, *dc7tog over next 7 dc, ch 1, [tr in next dc, ch 1] twice, (tr, ch 1, tr) in next dc, [ch 1, tr in next dc] twice, ch 1; repeat from * to last 4 dc, dc4tog over last 4 dc, turn.
zmcoombs - Likely you got off in stitch counts or placements. Maybe partway through row 3, since that where it begins to look off to you. Could you tell us what pattern it is? Maybe provide a link. That may help us to help you. - Cheryl
