Unexpected Afghans- kaleidoscope blanket question: joining

Hello!

I am almost finished making my motifs for this afghan, and as I have read ahead to what is next, the instructions for joining seem to indicate that I will join all the octagons together first and then crochet in the filler motifs. Is this correct? is there a certain way to do that? it seems like it will be awkward, I would love any suggestions!

also I am not sure if this is the right place for the question- so let me know if I need to move it!

thanks

Hi Christie,

Yes, this is the place to ask pattern questions. The main motifs are crocheted and joined to other main motifs (octagons) as you go. You can see the slip stitch joins in the stitch diagram on page 64. This will leave you with all of the main motifs joined but without any of the filler motifs. The filler motifs are indeed joined later. This is done by crocheting the first round and then joining them with slip stitches to the main motifs as you go, like you did with the main motifs.

I hope this helps. Good luck!

Best wishes,

Toni
