I am brand new to crochet. I'm talking --- just bought my first hook three days ago new --- I am attempting a pattern that requires me to skip 9 stitches in a row (making a mouth hole for a full head piece) I can't find anything online anywhere that says how to skip 9 multiple stitches.
I get the basic idea of skipping stitches. if I skip one, it looks just fine, but when I skip 9 the yarn stretches all the way across the 9 skipped stitches and looks terrible.
If anyone could walk me through how to do this I would be grateful.
Congratulation on joining the ranks of the crochet obsessed and welcome! I will try to help you. Does the pattern ask you to chain stitches before skipping for the mouth? This method would create a mouth opening without decreasing stitches.
