I have only done basic stiches like Granny squares, but I thought I could tackle this pinwheel baby blanket.  It is single crochet squares that are white and colored triangles, color change on the diagonal.  When I change the color, do I just leave the end dangling in back and then pick it back up at the end of the row?  On the back, there are long threads between rows.  The instructions don't say anything about carrying the color along, and if I do, won't I be using a lot of yarn?  I don't know if that all makes sense.  It's a Leisure Arts pattern, a leaflet called All for Baby.
