I bought a Tunisian crochet book (The New Tunisian Crochet: Contemporary Designs from Time-Honored Traditions by Dora Ohrenstein) and am making one of a series of shrugs that I'm designing out using one of the stitch patterns from the book.  I don't know if the stitches are copyrighted.  Can I still sell my pattern once I'm done?  Do I need to create the author w/ the creation of the stitch pattern?  (No problems doing the latter!)

To the best of my knowledge, unless it is a unique stitch pattern that is huge and incorporates something like hundreds of stitches and rows for instance, most stitch patterns are building blocks and not copyrighted. A new technique can by copyrighted but Tunisian crochet is not a new technique. A credit would be very welcome however!
