Can anyone help with a pattern I am trying to work for a blanket for my granddaughter.

Ch4; join with a slip st in first ch to form ring

Round 1

Ch3 (counts as dc here and throughout) 11 dc in ring join with sl st  - 12dc

Round 2

Ch 3 Fpdc around the post of same dc *dc in next dc, Fpdc around post of same dc; repeat from * around; join with sl st in top of beginning ch3 - 24 days

At this point I have 36sts which should be the amount after the next round. Can't understand where I am going wrong!

In the first round you have a total of 12 stitches (ch 3 + 11 dc).  In the second round you have 2 stitches in each stitch of round 1 (the dc + the FPDC) so you should end up with a total of 24 stitches for Rnd 2
