  • basic 'recipes', rule of thumb?

    Does anyone know the basic recipes for making a ball? There are specifics for making a flat circle... but are there those same basic rules of thumb for other 'shapes'?     I have been crocheting for about a year now and would like to create and sell my own patterns. It seems like some items, a basic baby hat for example, has only a few basic patterns. I want to add my own style and embellishments to them, but I feel like I am still using someone else's basic pattern...

    There are many nice trim and edging patterns that could be used like this. Any trim could be crocheted and sewed onto an item. I do this all the time. If you want to do this directly into the top, you'll need to establish a crochet foundation to work the trim on. I know of two ways to do this, 1...
