Braided Tunisian

This afghan square is created mainly in the Tunisian simple stitch, with three colors of yarn. (Bernat Cotton Tots Dollhouse, Strawberry and Pretty in Pink) The braid consists of four separate sections, which were then rejoined into one wide Tunisian simple stitch. The spaces on the sides of the braid were filled with a combination of double, treble and double treble crochet stitches. To finish off the piece and to help with flattening it, I added a single crochet border.

Double Crochet Interweave

Pattern uses 2 yarns interwoven. Color selection makes the pattern very interesting. 2 yarns gives warmth and pattern has a nice hand.

This snowflake is crocheted along with the square rather than attached afterwards. Snowflake is mostly chain which is appropriate for Chain Reaction Project

This is the same pattern as Double Crochet Interweave but with more striking colors. When the outer color is not in the variegated colored yarn the pattern really stands out. Backside looks the same, similar to a waffle. These are not post double crochets.

Gaudi Tile Square

This square was inspired by Barcelona and Gaudi's architecture. Worked in mercerized cotton yarn with an I hook.

Web and flowers

The square is made using Caron's Simply Soft in raspberry using an H-hook. I really didn't have a specific design in mind until I got started. It really worked itself. Now that I have finished this one, I want to make more for my own afghan.

A Summer's Day

I wanted to borrow from the quilting world to see if I could crochet a 'landscape' scene. I also wanted to avoid having to return to the project to add clouds & flowers--these are all stitched (in a variety of crochet stitches) as you go 'from the ground up'!

Dilly Dahlia

Inspired by the colours of Thanksgiving and Christmas both, this block is called Dilly Dahlia and represents the flower of the same name. A series of fptrc gives the illusion of depth and quality to the work.

Fresh Picked Flowers

I wanted a bright and cheerful square so instead of a plain white background I choose one with a bit of color sprinkled in but that wouldn't overpower the whole square. Than added flowers some stems and a bow so it looked like a fresh picked bouquet. Then added a border to really show it all off.

This is a simple but pretty pattern that uses two strands of yarn, so it's nice and warm and works up very fast.

Filet Hearts With A Twist

I first designed this square as simply a bunch of filet hearts. but after completion I decided to spice it up by adding some surface crochet and a edging while making the edging easy to join to other squares. And i can't believe how cool it turned out!

A Colorful Filet Rose With Leaf

This was a tricky square to work out since you have to have several colors connected at once but after I got the hang of it it worked up pretty quick without frustration on my part as long as I left it in one place so my yarn didn't get tangled. But I think the way it looks when it's done is well worth the little inconveniences.
