Just need to sew the last strip to the rest of the blanket and then edge it - am thinking in rows of yellow and green and then white open work - but will have to see how it works out.

I was wondering when you would post your next afghan! This is adorable!

I just did a search for elephant afghan - and it came up with Stephanies elephant squares - I just made the squares and sewed them together and then did a simple border around the blanket - it wasn't hard other than you had to assemble the squares some - sewing on ears and the trunk and embroidering eyes. Let me know if you can't find the pattern for the squares and I will scan it and email it to you or something!

I'm a newby crocheter (is that a word?)  I'm making my grand daughter a cuddle blanket using individual squares.  Do you hand sew the blocks together, one-by-one?

Thanks!

Actually I think that Newbie is a word now - I hear it alot! haha!! And yes - you sew the squares together individually - well, you  sew them together into a row and then sew rows together - you can see that is what I am in the process of doing in this pic. You can either sew them together whipstitch with a needle and yarn or you can use a hook and slip stitch them together - it looks nicer doing it with the needle - but I've done it both ways. Depends on what the blanket is going to be used for - if I'm entering it in the fair then it has to be done by hand cause it looks much nicer. Hope that helps! Have fun!
