CrochetMe Blanket Square

Created for the Chain Reaction Afghan Project, this playful square combines a wattle stitch background with a lace insert and a lightly stuffed double crochet yarn ball appliquéd on the surface to echo the CrochetMe logo.

Designer Marcy Smith
Finished Size 12" wide and 12" long.
Yarn Lion Brand Vanna's Choice (100% acrylic; 170 yd [156 m]/3½ oz [100 g]): #99 linen (off white; A), #145 eggplant (purple; B), and #170 pea green (C), 1 ball each.
Hook Size J/10 (6 mm). Adjust hook size if necessary to obtain correct gauge.
Notions
• small amount polyfil (optional);
• yarn needle.
Gauge 15 sts and 10 rows = 4" in wattle stitch.

what is the waffle stitch u didnt give instructins how to make it

Wow, I'm so excited about the project.  I had promised my self that every project I start from now on would have to present one new challenge/stitch and lo and behold the Afghan Project.  I read about it yesterday, went out and bought the yarn and am almost finiished the "Crochet Me" pattern.  It is really cute.

I've never posted to this blog before, but I'm really interested in joining in the Chain Reaction Afghan Project, and wanted to know if I can use any color combination with the square patterns you give us, or do we have to use the colors listed in each pattern?
