Introduction

My enviably glamorous french friend has just had a lovely baby boy. I wanted to make him a gift suitable for a cold winter in a caravan, so I crocheted these faux fur/leather style boots. While baby boots are pretty cute, because they’re just so darn small, I wanted to make sure I designed them to actually stay on, so they have a tie round the ankle (or you could use elastic)

This is my first attempt at writing a pattern, so feedback is appreciated.

Materials List

3mm hook

1skein of dk brown wool (A)

1 skein of dk cream or off-white wool (B)

Finished Size

approx 0-3 months

Notes

The fur trim is made with loop stitch, instructions can be found at http://www.nexstitch.com/v_loop_stitch.html

I absolutely adore this pattern, but for some reason, I'm unable to get past Round 4 of the Bootie Upper.  I just don't seem to have enough stitches to finish the round with 3sc, 2sc in final stitch.  Can you tell me where I might be going wrong?  I've charted this part of the pattern, and it just doesn't add up for me.

Im sorry you;re having trouble, it must be my inexperience in actually writing a pattern- which is also why im finding it difficult to visualise your problem. Thands was kind enough to send me some corrections/suggestions to the pattern which i haven't updated as i've been short of time at the moment and unable to check them, i can forward them to you by email if you like.

I think your problem could be that i apparently mis-calculated my foundation chains by 1 so the pattern is 1 stitch out? (could this be my confusion in english/american crochet language or just my confusion generally) If this is the case I would expect the sole to be a stitch out too.

Round 4 basically needs to straight at the sides, crocheting in the round on one side, with an increase work into each row end at the other side.

Is there a way I can send you the amendments Thands suggested, in the hope it makes the pattern work and then i will update it so no one else has to be frustrated by my pattern?

Can anyone suggest a hat or sweater that would go well with these booties?  I'm doing them in brown and would love to do a hat with brown, ivory and pink.

Hey Creationist!

Just a suggestion - you could cut and paste Thand's pattern suggestions to this comment board so everyone can see them!!

Again, thanks for sharing your creativity!!!

Okay,

So here are the suggested changes, I was just going to update the main pattern, but if you can tell me if it works out first that would be even better. Or if you have any other improvements I'd love to hear them and make a pattern that works for everyone!
