Finished Size:
Small bowl measures about 8" in diameter and 2¾" tall; large bowl measures 11" in diameter and 4" tall.
Yarn:
Aunt Lydia’s Classic Crochet Thread size 10 (100% mercerized cotton; 360 yd [320 m]): #21 linen, 1 skein (for small bowl). Aunt Lydia’s Fashion Crochet Thread size 3 (100% mercerized cotton), 150 yd [138 m]): #423 maize, 1 skein (for large bowl). Yarns distributed by Coats & Clark.
Hook:
Size B/1 (2.25 mm) hook (for small bowl), size D/3 (3.25 mm) hook (for large bowl). Adjust hook size if necessary to obtain correct gauge.
Notions:
Yarn needle; sugar; water; plastic wrap; bowls (used as molds); trash bag.
Gauge: For smaller bowl (size 10 thread): First 5 rnds = 3" in diameter, unblocked. For larger bowl: (size 3 thread), first 5 rnds = 4½" in diameter, unblocked. Gauge is not critical, but will affect the finished size of your bowls. To make a gauge swatch, crochet the first 5 rnds of patt, remove hook, measure work.
