with a feather-and-fan border interpreted in traditional crochet.

For 4" × 4" gauge swatch, using L/11 (8 mm) double-ended crochet
hook, work first 12 rows of central diagonal square followed by first 11 rows
of dec side of diagonal square. BO as for last row-24 rows total.
