Elvis 1973 Scarf

This self-fringed scarf is worked in all single crochet back loop only with the right side facing, giving it a Fair Isle look.

Designer: Karen Ratto-Whooley

Finished Size: About 56" long and 5" wide, without fringe, blocked.

Yarn: Valley Yarns Deerfield (80% baby alpaca, 20% silk; 109 yd [50 g]): mauve (MC); sweet pea (CC), 2 skeins each. Yarn distributed by WEBS.

Hook Size: G/6 (4 mm) Adjust hook size if necessary to obtain correct gauge.

Gauge: 16 sts and 16 rows = 4" in tapestry sc blo, unblocked.

ERRATA: Beginning chain should be 240. On chart, 10th row down, 8th stitch in should be shown in contrasting color.

I think the stich count on the foundation roow is off.  The repeat leangth appears to be 34 stitches, and they request 7 repeats.  Add to this two stitches (one at each end) for turning, and I get 7 x 34 + 2 = 240... not 226.  Correct me if I'm wrong?

Why is this scarf called the Elvis scarf? Did he wear one like it?

Where can I get the pattern? or chart?
