Front-post crochet cables travel outward to create a spiral around the entire hat. Available in three sizes, you can make one in just a weekend.

Designer: Melisa Darnieder

Finished Size: 18 (20, 22)" head circumference.

Yarn: Quince and Co. Chickadee (100% wool; 181 yd [166 m]/1¾ oz [50 g]; ): #122 marsh, 1 (2, 2) skeins.

Hook Size: F/5 (3.75 mm). Adjust hook size if necessary to obtain correct gauge.

Notions: Yarn needle.

Gauge: 20 sts and 15 rows = 4" in hdc.

I consider myself a knowledgable crocheter but I can't for the life of me figure out what I'm doing  wrong with this pattern. My fpdcs just come down almost straight. Can anyone help me?
