I'm having "issues" getting this project started.  At the end of row 1, the instructions say "sk next ch, dc in last ch, turn."  The problem is that there are 7 unused chains at the end of the original chain 61.  The instructions suggest that there should only be 2; 1 to be skipped and the last 1 to be worked with a dc.  I have re-done this twice with the same result.  If this end is intended to be a mirror image of the other end then this line of instruction doesn't make sense to me.

So, what steps did you do to correct it?

hi grannie2013.  It has been many months since I completed this project.  As I recall, I had made an error in working the pattern and once I re-read and re-worked again, it worked out perfectly.  I gave the scarf to my sister as a gift and she loves it.  It turned out beautifully :)
