This hoodie allows experimentation with several different colors of yarns, variegated and semi-solid, offset by large solid areas of light olive green to highlight the playful spike stitch colorwork technique.

Designer Annie Modesitt

FINISHED SIZE 42½ (45½, 48½, 51½, 57½)" bust circumference (buttoned). Garment shown measures 42½", modeled with 10½" ease. Garment is meant to be loose fitting with up to 10" of ease.

YARN Freia Flux Sport (100% wool; 145 yds [133 m]/1¾ oz [50 g]): seaglass (A), 5 (6, 7, 7, 8) balls.  Freia Semi-Solid Sport (100% wool; 145 yds [133 m]/1¾ oz [50 g]): olivine (green) (B), 9 (11, 13, 15, 17) balls; sand (orange) (C), red oxide (red) (D), relish (yellow) (E), blue patina (light blue) (F), 2 (2, 2, 3, 3) balls each.

HOOK Size G/6 (4 mm) and H/8 (5 mm). Adjust hook size if necessary to obtain correct gauge.

NOTIONS St markers (m); yarn needle; four 1¼" toggle buttons.

GAUGE 16 sts and 16 rows = 4'' in spike patt and bobble patt with larger hook; 18 sts and 18 rows = 4" in sc with smaller hook.

Can you explain the sizing to me?  If I was a medium, or a size 10 or 12 how would I know what sizw to make?  thanks!
