Introduction

Last year I shared my pattern for the All Mine Crochet Slouch Hat, sized for adults. So this year, it's time to add the baby, toddler, and child sizes! And since they're little, there's still time to whip one up for Valentine's Day - or any day!

These hats are a little different from the adult version - in particular the brim. This brim has a lot more stretch - so that baby hat will fit almost all year, the toddler hat for the next couple years, and the child version for a few years after than - until they're ready for the adult version! They'll be slouchy at the start, and become beanies as the kids grow. (And of course, if you want to make the adult version with this brim, that works too - just use the exact same stitch count!)

Materials List

  • US - I, 5.5mm hook
  • 65 - 120 yds total Worsted or Aran weight yarn, in 2 colors (Lion Brand Vanna's Choice in White and Scarlett show)

Finished Size

Baby (14 - 16" head, 6.5" tall) Toddler (16 - 18" head, 8" tall); Child (18 - 20" head, 8.5" tall)

Gauge

12 sts x 6 rows = 4" in dc

Notes

To make the seam less noticeable, you can use the Chainless Starting Double Crochet in place of the ch 2 and first dc of any row, if desired. Note that the non working yarn is held behind the stitch, as in tapestry crochet.
