Peppermint Peekers in actionI created this pattern when a girl at work asked me for some "fingerless arm warmers." "What??" I said "are you nuts..." But I happily took down the colors she wanted and this is the pattern I came up with. The ribbing will stay nice and snug around your arm; the rest is just cool!

Materials List

  • 4.5mm/7 hook
  • Pink (MC) and red (CC) 4-ply yarn
  • Yarn needle
  • Stitch marker

Finished Size

Will fit teen to adult.

The Pattern

fingerless glovesRow 1 - With MC ch 37, sk 1 chain and sc in each ch remaining, ch 1, turn (36)

Rows 2 - 28 - In BLO, sc in each sc, ch 1 turn.

For the striping I alternated between the pink and red yarn every 2 rows. Don't break off the yarn, just carry it up loosely to the next row. When you get to the end of row 28 and ch 1, sl st the long sides of the ribbing together. You will now have a long tube. Fasten off both colors.

Row 29 - Attach MC along the end where you carried the yarn up to the next row. 32 sc evenly around, the sc will hide the carried yarn... smart huh? (Mark your rows -- you'll be working in the round now.)

Row 30 - * sc in next 7 sts, 2 sc in the next st * (36)

Row 31 - sc in each sc around

Row 32 - sc, 2 sc in next st, sc in the next 32 sts, 2sc in next st, sc in the last st (38)

Row 33 - sc in each st around

Row 34 - sc, 2 sc in next st, sc in the next 34 sts, 2sc in next st, sc in the last st (40)

Rows 35-37 - sc in each st around

Row 38 - sc in the next 32 sts, ch4, skip 8 sts and sc in the next st. (You just created the thumb hole.)

Rows 39-41 - sc in each st around. Fasten off.

Row 42 - With CC, attach it around the finger openings, sc around. Fasten off.

Row 43 - Now with the CC, attach it in the thumb hole and sc around. I added in 2 extra sc for comfort. Fasten off. Weave in ends.

I love this pattern, but it doesn't print the whole pattern. Maybe there should be a print version?

Hi Larissa - Just under the bio section there's a link for "printer friendly version."
