Introduction

Purple Haze with peplum hem

I always come across patterns that I like but want to change. It never fails. Either I don’t like the sleeve or I want to tweak the hem. Add a little here, take away a little there - I just can’t seem to stop myself.

So choose your own adventure. Feeling romantic and girly? Go for the wide v-neck collar and flouncy peplum hem. Or maybe you need a hip-length weekender sweater to snuggle in by the fire...

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! for acknowledging that not every woman is a B-cup, regardless of what size they wear. I love having the sizing options!

That looks wonderful, thank you for having so many great pix and thank you for showing exactly where the safest places are for modifications. This is a great one and I really want to give this a go (as soon as I finish the other three projects I started and promised dear hubby I would finish before I buy more yarn). I just love that I can use this pattern to make the same thing for me, my mom, and my sister even though we are all three so totally different in build!

I want to make this sweater (I've been searching for HOURS for a decent looking cardigan), but I want the back to come up to my neck and not lay down so low - what would be the best way to modify the pattern to get a higher neckline in the back without ruining the lovely drape of the collar in the front?

I'll be making it with a size XL chest and probably a L waist - I've a 45" bustline, but a much smaller waist, so THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for writing a pattern I can modify to fit my bust AND waist without being either too tight on top or gaping ridiculously around my waist - so that may be a consideration when doing the neckline, as well.

Tiga,

I'm so glad you like the pattern. Here are my pattern modifications to bring the neckline up in the back by about 1.5" I estimate it would sit about .5" below the knob of my spine. This will work on all sizes and bust measurements (in case anyone else is interested). You can simply change the row numbers with a pen if you have already printed the pattern out.

1st shoulder:

Work Rows 1 & 2 as indicated in pattern. Stop here. Fasten off and weave in ends

2nd shoulder
Work Rows 1 & 2 as indicated in pattern.
Skip Rows 3 - 5 in original pattern of 2nd shoulder.
Rows 6 - 8 become the new Rows 3-5.

Rows 9 - 23 become the new Rows 6 - 23 (note the increase in the number of rows here makes up for the rows lost in the original shoulder.)

From here follow the continuing rows based on your size and bustline.

The collar pattern remains the same since the increases are worked between the shoulder seams.

Please feel free to email me directly if you get stuck or have questions.

Thanks,

Lauren

Will any DK weight yarn work? I would like to make this one but don't want to spend an arm and a leg on yarn. BTW lovely pattern.

Awesome! so you begin from the neck down? I've always begun at the hem & worked up.. I'll have to try this, it is so complementing to any body shape.

May you never be needy, May you always be pleased, May you always be blessed in Gods name, Amen ~!~ TresaLynn
