Introduction

A little pouch for makeup, crochet tools, change, whatever! Worked in a spiral after the orange base, close with a zipper or even some lightweight Velcro.

Materials List

-Olympus Herbs
(100% cotton, 96yds each, crochet thread size #20)
1 ball MC

1 ball CC

-steel crochet hook 2.00mm

Finished Size

approx 3.5" wide NOTE: You can work this project in any yarn, any hook! Heavier weight yarns and a larger hook will produce a larger pouch. Be sure to use a hook size that gives you a tight crochet stitch.

Gauge

9.5 sc = 1"

Notes

Working the increase rounds of this pattern, you will not join to the ch 1 stitch at the beginning of the round, you will skip the ch 1 and join to the first sc of each round (makes for a cleaner looking join). After increases are finished you will work in a continuous spiral instead of joining rounds.

The Pattern

-with MC, make 3 loops around a finger with the yarn (tail end at the tip of your finger), insert crochet hook from tip of your finger under the first two loops and grab the last loop with your hook, pull this loop under the other two to form a two-strand foundation loop, ch 1 into center, work 6 sc around, join to first sc, pull loops and tail to tighten. (alternately you can chain 3 sts and join to form circle, and work into the center of the chain)

Increases: you will be working in rounds, not turning at the end of each round.

Round 1: ch 1, 2 sc in same, 2 sc in each around, join to first sc. (12sc)
Round 2: ch 1, 1 sc in same, 2 sc in next, [1 sc in next, 2 sc in next], join to first sc. (18sc)
Round 3: ch 1, 2 sc in same, [1 sc in each of next 2, 2 sc in next], end with 1 sc in each of next 2, join to first sc. (24sc)
Round 4: ch 1, 1 sc in same, 1 sc in each of next 2, 2 sc in next, [1 sc in each of next 3, 2 sc in next], join to first sc. (30sc)
Round 5: ch 1, 1 sc in same, 2 sc in next, [1 sc in each of next 4, 2 sc in next], end with 1 sc in each of next 3, join to first sc. (36sc)
Round 6: ch 1, 1 sc in same, 1 sc in each of next 4, 2 sc in next, [1 sc in each of next 5, 2 sc in next], join to first sc. (42sc)
Round 7: ch 1, 1 sc in same, 1 sc in next, 2 sc in next, [1 sc in each of next 6, 2 sc in next], end with 1 sc in each of next 4, join to first sc. (48sc)
Round 8: ch 1, 1 sc in same, 1 sc in each of next 6, 2 sc in next, [1 sc in each of next 7, 2 sc in next], join to first sc. (54sc)
Round 9: ch 1, 1 sc in same, 1 sc in each of next 2, 2 sc in next, [1 sc in each of next 8, 2 sc in next], end with 1 sc in each of next 5, join to first sc. (60sc)
Round 10: ch 1, 1 sc in same, 1 sc in each of next 8, 2 sc in next, [1 sc in each of next 9, 2 sc in next], join to first sc. (66sc)
Round 11: ch 1, 1 sc in same, 1 sc in each of next 3, 2 sc in next, [1 sc in each of next 10, 2 sc in next], end with 1 sc in each of next 6, join to first sc. (72sc)
Stop increasing, you will now be working in a spiral, not joining each round.
-1 sc in each around for about 4 rounds

-join CC and work 1 sc in each around for about 20 rounds (or until the pouch is as tall as you would like), slip stitch to next to finish off and weave in ends. You want the side that was facing you while working the crochet to be the outside of the pouch.

Closure options
-Sew a zipper to the inside top of the pouch!
-Make a button and loop closure.

-Sew Velcro strips on the inside.
