This is a fairly easy coat hanger cover I made for a woman I work with. She liked it so much that I made her a total of 1 dozen to give at Cristmas! I even made some for kids hangers, the small plastic kind. I just made them smaller to fit.
(For 5 hanger covers) use 3 x 40 (or 50) gram balls of Knitting Worsted Weight yarn, size 4.50 m hook, Plastic coat hangers and Tapestry needle
17" x 9" x 9" for a total of 35" in length.
Stitches: dc = double chain
dc in 3rd ch from hook
dc in next ch, ch 1, skip next ch (space) 2 dc in next ch, ch 1, 2 dc in same ch (space), skip next ch (space) 1 dc in second ch (space) from end, dc in last ch (space), ch 2, turn.
Repeat above till until cover measures the same as the hanger (35 inches in length). Fasten off. Leave enough length to sew together.
Slip hanger hook through center of pattern at each of cover end and sew lower edges together encasing the hanger, end at neck and loosely sew together at center.
