Introduction

I made this little ball of love for my sister, it will be one of her gifts. The inspiration came from a famous film : Arthur and the Minimoys.
It's very easy to make and nobody resist to give it hugs!
Have a lot of fun !
Pour mes chères fées du crochet, voici la version française:

Joyeux Noël!

Materials List

*1 ball of fur yarn of your choice but choose a glitter white if possible
*some white coton thread yarn (for stell hook n°4/2mm)to make wings
*some fine yarn (like baby yarn)flesh tone to make feet
*some bulky weight yarn in black to make eyes
*some white stuff
*crochet hook F (4 mm) and stell hook n°6 (1.75 mm)
*1 tapestry needle

*markers of your choice

Finished Size

You'll obtain a ball with a diameter of approx. 4.5 inch

Gauge

For fur yarn and hook size F:
10 sc x 6 sc-rows : 2 inchs x 2 inchs
For fine yarn and steel hook size 6:

20 sc x 15 sc-roxs : 2 inchs x 2 inchs

Notes

The body is worked in round, do not join with a slip stitch at the end of each round, use a marker at the beginning of each round.

The Fur Yarn is more dense on the wrong side of the work, so you'll have to turn down the ball before stuff it.

The Pattern

Body:
1st rnd : with crochet hook F and fur yarn, ch 2, 6 sc in second ch from hook (do not join here and for all rounds)
2nd rnd (inc): 2 sc in each sc => 12 sc
3rd rnd (inc): *sc, 2 sc in next sc) repeat from* 6 times => 18 sc
4th rnd (inc): *sc in each next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc) repeat from* 6 times => 24 sc
5th rnd (inc): *sc in each next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc) repeat from* 6 times => 30 sc
6th rnd (inc): *sc in each next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc) repeat from* 6 times => 36 sc
7th rnd (inc): *sc in each next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc) repeat from* 6 times => 42 sc
8th rnd (inc): *sc in each next 6 sc, 2 sc in next sc) repeat from* 6 times => 48 sc
9th rnd (inc): *sc in each next 7 sc, 2 sc in next sc) repeat from* 6 times => 54 sc
10th rnd (inc): *sc in each next 8 sc, 2 sc in next sc) repeat from* 6 times => 60 sc
11th to 21th rnd : 1 sc in each sc
22th rnd (dec): *sc in each next 8 sc, 2 sc tog. in next 2 sc) repeat from* 6 times => 54 sc
23th rnd (dec): *sc in each next 7 sc, 2 sc tog. in next 2 sc) repeat from* 6 times => 48 sc
24th rnd (dec): *sc in each next 6 sc, 2 sc tog. in next 2 sc) repeat from* 6 times => 42 sc
25th rnd (dec): *sc in each next 5 sc, 2 sc tog. in next 2 sc) repeat from* 6 times => 36 sc
26th rnd (dec): *sc in each next 4 sc, 2 sc tog. in next 2 sc) repeat from* 6 times => 30 sc
27th rnd (dec): *sc in each next 3 sc, 2 sc tog. in next 2 sc) repeat from* 6 times => 24 sc
28th rnd (dec): *sc in each next 2 sc, 2 sc tog. in next 2 sc) repeat from* 6 times => 18 sc
At this point turn down the work and stuff it firmly, then continue :
29th rnd (dec): *sc, 2 sc tog. in next 2 sc) repeat from* 6 times => 12 sc
30th rnd (dec): (2 sc tog. in next 2 sc) 6 times, 1 sl. st. in next sc, fasten off leaving a long tail.
Stuff firmly to have a nice ball.

With tapestry needle and using this tail, insert needle in each last 6 sc and pull up tightly to close the ball, secure end and weave it.

Wings:
Little Wing (make 2)
1st row : with steel crochet hook 6 and white coton thread yarn, ch 10
2nd row (inc): 1 sc in each next 9 sc, 3 sc in next sc,(working on the other side of chain) 1 sc in each next 9 sc, turn => 21 sc

3rd row (inc) : 1 sc in each next 9 sc, 2 sc in each next 3 sc, 1 sc in each next 9 sc => 24, fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing it on body.

Long Wing (make 2)
1st row : ch 15
2nd row (inc): 1 sc in each next 14 sc, 3 sc in next sc,(working on the other side of chain) 1 sc in each next 14 sc, turn => 31 sc

3rd row (inc) : 1 sc in each next 14 sc, 2 sc in each next 3 sc, 1 sc in each next 14 sc => 24, fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing it on body.

Foot (make 2)
Toe (make 3)
1st rnd : ch 2, 6 sc in second ch from hook (do not join here and for each next round)
2nd rnd (inc): 2 sc in each sc => 12 sc
3rd to 5th rnd : 1 sc in each next sc
6th rnd (dec): (2 sc tog. in next 2 sc) 6 times => 6 sc
7th to 9th rnd : 1 sc in each sc
1 sl. st. in next sc; fasten off for first 2 toes but do not fasten off for the third one and continue this way:
10th rnd (joining rnd): 1 sc in next 3 sc on the same toe, 1 sc in next 3 sc on second toe, 1 sc in next 6 sc on first worked toe, 1 sc in next 3 sc on second toe, 1 sc in next 3 sc on last worked toe => 18 sc
11th rnd (dec): *1 sc in next sc, 2 sc tog. in next 2 sc, repeat from * 6 times =>12 sc

12th rnd (dec): (2 sc tog. in next 2 sc)6 times =>6 sc; fasten off leaving a long tail for sewing under body.=> 1 foot made

Finitions :

Make two little eyes with weight black yarn and tapestry needle at the front center of the ball with three simple points for each eye and weave end into the body; add some stuff to hide the black yarn used.

Fold in half each base of each wing before sewing it on each upper side of the ball; place little wings in front of each longer wing. Weave in ends.

Using pins, place feet under the front part of the ball (be carefull to place it on the same side as eyes!),and only sew the end of each foot. Weave in ends.
