My Crocheted Brimmed Hat

Introduction

I made 2 of these hats with different patterns for the bands. You can experiment with different patterns yourself.

Materials List

Use hook size 4.00 mm, any color yarn in three colors. One for the main and two contrasting colors.

Finished Size

One size fits all.

Gauge

not important.

The Pattern

Ch 4. Join with ss to form ring.
Round 1: 8 sc in ring
Round 2: 2 sc in ea sc of previous round (16 sc)
Round 3: 1 sc in ea sc of previous round
Round 4: 2 sc sc in ea sc of previous round (32 sc)
Round 5 & 6: 1 sc in ea sc of previous round
Round 7: *2 sc in 1st sc, 1 sc in next sc. Repeat from * to end of round (48 sc)
Rounds 8 & 9: 1 sc in ea sc of previous round
Round 10: *2 sc in 1st sc, 1 sc in next 2 sc. Repeat from* to end of round (64 sc)
Rounds 11 & 12: 1 sc in ea sc of previous round
Round 13: *2 sc in 1st sc, 1 sc in next 3 sc. Repeat from* to end of round (80 sc)
Rounds 14 & 15: 1 sc in ea sc of previous round
Round 16: *2 sc in 1st sc, 1 sc in next 4 sc. Repeat from* to end of round

Rounds 17 & 27: 1 sc in ea sc of previous round

Hat band
Round 28: CHANGE to COLOR “A”: *Ch 1, skip next st, 1 sc in next sc. Repeat from * to end of round
Round 29: CHANGE to COLOR “B”: * 1 long ch, 1 sc in next 2st, Repeat from * to end of round (40 long dc)
[Long dc: YO, insert your hook on the row below the row you are working on, and work a double crochet, bringing your loop up to same height as previous stitches]
Round 30: Main color: 1 sc in ea sc of previous round
Round 31: Repeat round 28 using first color
Round 32: Repeat round 29 using second color
Round 33: Repeat round 30 using main color
Round 34: Repeat round 28 using first color
Round 35: Repeat round 29 using second color

Round 36-37: Repeat round 30 using main color

Brim
Round 38: Chain 1, sc in 1st st sc in each sc around (108 sc)
Rounds 39 & 40: *2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next 3 sc. Repeat from * to end of round
Round 41: 1 sc in ea sc of previous round
Round 42: Repeat round 38 (162 sc)
Round 43: Repeat round 41
Round 44: *2 sc in next sc, 1 sc in next 26 sc. Repeat from * to end of round

Rounds 45-49: 1 sc in ea sc of previous round. Join with ss to next sc. Fasten off. Weave in all ends.

I would like to say that I made this hat it worked up very nicely an quick. when I was left alone. LOL,

It was quick an easy to do. I used Red Heart yarn. I uses a solid color. Thank You for the pattern I liked it very much.

Thank you for sharing your pattern. I belong to a group that has taken up  crocheting for cancer patients, who have under gone chemo and radiation.  This looks like a very good item to give these people  to boost their spirits.  I thank you from my heart, for sharing your creativeness, talents, and the goodness of your soul.  Bless you.

"one size fits all", "gauge", and yarn wt.. seem vague to me if someone wants to do this once and picks the wrong yarn and doesn't get a gauge similar to whatever you got.  Even the most experienced crocheter would have these thoughts, I think.
