Jaymie R. BaSSETT
I am disabled due to a congenital brain disorder. I sit at home with all the yarn I can possibly have and decided to create some hats with it. I don't ever make the same hat twice so if you make these, please understand that these were all created as I went along. Have fun with these hats. I dont follow a gauge and if I wanted bigger stitches, I would use a bigger hook.
Any sport weight yarn.
A size F crochet hook (or any size hook depending on how big you want the hat)
A Yarn needle to sew in the ends.
Depending on the size hook you use.
No gauge required.
This hat is for the little girl in all of us. I was sitting at home and thought to myself, "Why not create something for woman who want to be the little girl that they know is inside?" Therefore, the lacy bucket hat.
To begin, chain 70.
Row 1: Single crochet in the 2nd chain from hook and in each stitch across. Chain 1 and turn.
Row 2: Single crochet in the 2nd chain from hook and in each stitch across. Chain 1 and turn.
Row 3-6: Same as row 2 with the exception of row 6. There at the end of row 6 you would want to chain 3 and turn.
Row 7: Double crochet in 4th stitch from hook and in each stitch across, chain 3 and turn.
Row 8: Same as Row 7. At the end of this row, you would need to slip stitch to join and slip stitch to join all the way across.
THE FINISHING OF THIS HAT IS DONE IN ROUNDS.
Round 1: 2 double crochet in 4th stitch from hook, *skip the next stitch, single crochet in the next stitch, skip next stitch, 5 double crochet in next stitch*. Repeat from * to * around. In the last stitch, 3 double crochet in the last stitch. Slip stitch to join.
Round 2: * Chain 10, single crochet in the top of the shell on the previous row (usually about the 3rd double crochet)*. Repeat from * to * around. Chain 1 and turn.
Round 3: Same as round 2. Chain 3 and turn.
Round 4: Double crochet in each chain across. Slip stitch to join.
Round 5: *Double crochet in the next 4 stitches, 2 double crochet in the next stitch*. Repeat from * to * around. Slip stitch to join. Finish off.
TOP OF HAT:
To join the yarn, slip stitch where you joined row 8. Chain 1, single crochet decrease all the way around the top of the hat, continuing to work this way until you have one single crochet left. Work the final single crochet like you would normally do and finish off. Weave in all the yarn ends and look at that, you have a hat.
