I've been a crocheter for over 40 years, but started out as a knitter. My mom taught me how to knit when I was around 11 years old; I learned crochet from my Aunt Viola when I was a teenager. It was during the "crochet craze" of the 70s that I began crocheting almost exclusively. Around 2003, I began knitting again, thanks to Vicky Howell's "Knitty Gritty" on the DIY channel. I'm still primarily a crocheter but enjoy undertaking small knitting projects from time to time. I'm glad I know how to do both and thank the generation of my mother and aunt for teaching me skills that have I've used throughout my life.
