I
am Jennifer Ramírez, a Colombian student of a Master in Arts in
ePedagogy Design Visual Knowledge Building in the University of Arts and
Design of Helsinki. The Sun and the turtle grew as an idea of my
soulmate and me, in our daily conversations about what is going on in
the world and our frustration about how this changes are not always for a
good cause.
So
I decided to go against the current and put all this ideas into real
stuff, but always in the way we talk and make art and handicraft at
home: Spontanously, unique and relax.
We
are Totally tired about how market treat us as consumers and not as
unique people trying to find some identity. Our idea with The Sun and
the Turtle is to create identity, authenticity, and encourage people to
live in harmony with all living beings.
Big
cities are make us forget about nature and the calm effect it has on
us, we want to make people smile, create, be more relaxed, more messy
more spontaneous and creative, also to remember their inner child and to
stop being ashame of just "BEING" in the world as sovereigns of their
own lifes.
That
is what we try to portrait in all our creations. Both of us having
artistic backgrounds we decided just to start making random things:
Making
natural jewelry that would tell a story, with all the materials we can
recycle and find in the woods, organic, unique and not as a mass
produced "trendy" clone.
OUR MISSION:
Every item is unique and handcrafted, anti-industrial, ecological design.
Now we make woolen hats and gloves, amigurumis, notebooks, candle
holders, and will soon start printing our t-shirt designs, beside the
jewelry.
