Learned needlearts from my mom, she inspired me to use my creative side in the needlearts, anything that needs a needle or hook, yarn or thread - I have tried it or am willing to try it. I love fibre arts too - inherited the sewing gene from my dad's side all the women in his family are or were sewers, mostly quilters.
I have a picture of my boys under a quilt attached to a quilt maker with several of their Great Great Aunt's, Great Aunt's, Aunt, Great Grandmother, Grandmom, and mom all around the quilt as we are chatting up a storm and basting the quilt that I have hanging - it's a crazy quilt - goes with nothing, goes with everything. There's only me, my boys and their Aunt left today from that picture. I cherish the arts and the experiences there of, my favorite gift is something made by the giver.
My mom and I where to open a yarn shop the year she was dignosed with cancer and past away. Her spirit remains close to me and any stitches I make, she's not far from my thoughts when I get a creative nudge. I am appreicative for having the chance to be creative and enjoy ever moment I send with the instruments of creativeness.
I have completed a number of projects all given away, in a varity of workable mediums. I hope they are still being enjoyed as I took great pleasure in the creative process.
I play piano, a love of music inspired by my father and his twin sister who plays the guitar and piano, also. Classic's are my fave to play and have written several pieces in the classical style, one day I will own a black baby grand and what a grand that will be.
I garden, I love to experiment with color, size, texture and pots - mostly I favor container gardening. They are like little worlds each individual and attractive on their own.
I enjoy the ocean and the smells off the sea, I lived near the ocean for 10 years until the need for work out weighted the ability to support a family in an area that was lacking. To this day I miss the sound of the lighthouse and the smell of the ocean. I'd drop everything, pack my family in a heartbeat, should an offer to return to Vancouver Island - home - ever come my way; mountains and ocean and grey blue sky what a combination.
Walks in the rain during the spring and summer months keep me sane, I have a dislike for the cold, snow I like but only if the temperature doesn't go below --10 degrees.
I like to write and have written several pieces that have been published in maginzines. I would love to write a book in the style of Erma Bombeck, all you wiser (older gals and guys would remember her wit), I remember my mother and her mother drinking coffee and laughing until tears ran down their faces, I thought her writings a bit quirkie - some good humour lost on the children we bring up today.
One day I hope to be able to give up the daily grind of calculating numbers and allow my creative juices spill forth in any form they may take for the day.
I believe we all have a creative side we just need to open up and let it flow forth, taking joy and relishing the outcome of the process.
We all should leave a valueable imprint on the world we live in and cherish each day we wake up healthly or wake up at all. Enjoy the greys you have gained over night - they are well earned and attest to our "wiseness".
Smile to all those paths you may cross you never know who could use that smile and if you come across someone with their hand stretched out, share your dollar, it will come back to you one day in mutilpals.
never without a coffee, never without a hook, (now if only I could find a hook pic)
